1. The 10th Annual Carroll County African American Read-In

February 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The 10th Annual Carroll County African American Read-In will take place on Wednesday, February 26th, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Carroll Arts Center, located at 91 West Main Street in Westminster, Maryland. All CCPS high schools, as well as students from Silver Oak Academy, will be participating.The Read-In is sponsored by Carroll County Public Schools, Carroll County Public Library, the Carroll County Arts Council, and the Carroll County Branch of the NAACP.  Proudly supported by Carroll Citizens for Racial Equity, Penguin Random House, and St. Paul’s UCC. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. The evening will open with jazz music from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Readings and performances of African American literature will be presented from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.The National African American Read-In is the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This initiative has reached more than 6 million participants around the world.

3. Bullriding by International Bull Riders

March 1 @ 7:00 pM - 10:00 pM

“Bullriding” presented by the International Bull Riders. Watch as the top bullriders battle for final standings. Located indoors, at the Carroll County Ag. Center in Westminster, MD.Doors open at 5pm, and the show starts at 7pm.Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for children 3-12 and children under 3 are FREE. 4. Chamber Music on the Hill

March 2, 2025, 3 – 9pm

Encore Chamber Winds is dedicated to bringing the unique sound of a reed trio to new audiences. Mindy Niles (oboe), David Duree (clarinet), Rob Sirois (bassoon) with Pauletta Burchill (flute) form the standard woodwind quartet. Including French horn and piano brings us to the Poulenc Sextet.

5. Professor Louie & the Crowmatix

Common Ground Downtown Grammy Nominated Professor Louie & The Crowmatix from Woodstock NY have been expanding the borders of the Americana, Roots & Blues genres since the early 2000’s with Professor Louie’s stories, keyboard playing, singing and accordion.  Professor Louie (keyboards-vocals-accordion) is joined onstage by band mates Miss Marie (vocals, percussion and piano) Frank Campbell (bass, vocals) guitar-slinging skills of Todd Mihan and drummer Dan Hickey. Professor Louie & The Crowmatix create a show that is constantly evolving with songs consisting of elements of Rock n Roll, Blues, Folk & Gospel Music with a dose of Jam framed in solid songwriting.
